Bliss - $1995 Cherry Veneer |

The BLISS makes use of the exclusive loading system developed for the OFFRANDE
SIGNATURE, giving it the ability to reproduce a sound environment considerably
larger than the modest size and architecture of its enclosure would lead one to
expect Spontaneous and lively with rich and marvelous tone, it provides a very
smooth subjective spectrum of sound and is capable of exploring the very low end
without hump or drag effect The BLISS doesn’t pretend to be “too big for its
boots” but should suit those who know what real live music is all about |
|
|
|
LOUDSPEAKER CABINET |
The traditional loading system commonly used (such as reflex system or sealed
box) generates high pressure levels inside the cabinet close to their tuning
frequency, the consequences of which can be easily heard across a very wide
portion of the audio spectrum: sound box effect, lack of speed, and tonal
distortion The four-coupled cavities loading principle used in the
OFFRANDESIGNATURES and BLISS allows a regulation of air flow inside the cabinet,
resulting in lower air elasticity Its expansion profile has been perfectly
tuned, thanks to the use of analog signals to identify the appearance of a flat
wave
This double compression chamber, dampened with a viscoelastic compound, gives a
very high velocity to the enclosed air, which then reaches the two other uneven
internal chambers through a tuned event port These two cavities dampen the air
flow at the exit of the compression chamber One of them is tuned by a slimevent
port at the frequency resonance of both cabinet and woofer
The deep bass which results is tonally pure and distortion free; the
establishment of the wave trains is very fast |

During one of the musical meetings of La Baule, I was struck by the beauty of
the sound of the quartet of instruments named " evangelists " played by the
Modigliani Quartet These four instruments, made from the wood of one tree by
nineteenth century instrument-maker JB Vuillaume, made me understand how much
harmony could arise from a set of instruments conceived as a set rather than as
individual pieces Moved by the
sonic beauty and sublime complementary harmony of these four instruments, I
tried to apply a new methodology to the conception and the development of a pair
of loudspeakers, designed not as single units but as a pair, to be played with
each other for stereophonic listening I saw that what was needed to achieve
perfectly harmonious musical results would be an absolute match of the electric
and mechanical performance
of the pair I thus began the study of the BLISSSILVER, which had to meet these
specifications |
|
|
DETAILS OF DESIGN
FILTERING
The components are sorted and matched to make exactly the same specifications,
they are wired "in the air" and sense winding (very important for capacitors) is
carefully identified and their positioning relative to each other perfectly
optimized The connecting cables have lengths strictly identical and are welded
directly to the terminals of components with a silver solder
SPEAKERS
They are also paired to present identical curves Boomers are secured to the
cabinet through an axial attachment and bowl is decoupled from its support by a
joint cushioning The magnetic core of the motor shaft is threaded and a
stainless steel (non magnetic) is bolted through the cabinet it from side to
side and is fixed by constraining the bottom of the cabinet This technique
allows complete privacy while the bowl of the loudspeaker with its seal
insulation with mechanical forces uniformly distributed The threaded rod also
allows the tensioning of the front and back of the chamber with a mechanical
reference absolutely stable speaker removing harmful micro displacement always
has an excellent transient response The branches of the bowl are themselves
treated to eliminate their own sound color |

DETAILS OF THE CONCEPTION |
|
|
|
CROSSOVERS |
|
Components are sorted and coupled to present absolutely identical technical
characteristics, they are point to point wired, the direction of winding (very
important for capacitors) is carefully chosen, and their location with regard to
the others components is perfectly optimized The silver interconnection wires
have strictly identical length and are directly welded to the components with a
silver weld |
|
|
|
DRIVER UNITS |
They are also paired to yield identical curves Woofers are affixed to the
cabinetwork by means of axial binding and their baskets are decoupled from the
support with a damping joint The magnetic core is threaded and a stainless
steel, non-magnetic rod is screwed into it; it crosses the cabinet throughout
and is bolted to the bottom face of the cabinet This technique allows a
perfect connection of the loudspeaker’s basket to its
isolating joint, thanks to uniformly distributed mechanical efforts The
threaded rod establishes a tension between the facade and the bottom of the
cabinet offering an absolutely stable mechanical reference to the loudspeaker,
eliminating micro moves that always inhibit excellent transitory response The
branches of thebasket are covered with damping compound to eliminate their
appropriate sound color |
|
|
|
CABINETWORK |
|
To channel all the energy reflected by the inner walls of the cabinet (the
energy can’t be absorbed but can be channeled), the inside of the cabinet is
dressed in strategic places with a visco-elastic damping material Thanks to
this technique, the vibratory energy is thus transformed into heat |
|
|
|
PERFORMANCE |
The tight integrity of the sound, the very high speed of transmission of the
signal, the absence of box sound, and the harmonious coherence of the sound
spectrum delivered by a pair of BLISSSILVER allows them to reproduce a very
beautiful sound stage and rich tone, freed of the technical artifacts too often
present in less accomplished systems
The Bliss Silver is the fruit of a very demanding design and supremely accurate
work, where nothing is left at random during all the stages of its manufacture |

Review:
Positive Feedback
http://www.positive-feedback.com/Issue25/reynaud_cantabile.htm
"JM-Reynaud Cantabiles are a transmission
line design, with a slotted front port at the bottom and a silk
dome tweeter that sits on top of the main cabinet. A
transmission line is a rather complicated bass-delivery system
that involves a long line coiling its way through the main
cabinet and to the port. Some manufacturers play fast and loose
with the term, but a true transmission line design is difficult
and costly to manufacture. When it's done correctly and well, as
it is in the Cantabiles, the resultant bass has a tightness,
tunefulness and musical "rightness" that make most conventional
woofers sound a bit wooly".
|
2 1/2 - WAY HIGH END LOUDSPEAKERS SYSTEM
Careful optimization of acoustic loading and mechanical parameters, electrical
and geometric quality of components -- particularly handmade drivers -- all
contribute to remarkable results in terms of musicality, airy and natural
The loudspeaker units and components of the crossover are strictly sorted and
paired, guaranteeing an absolute match of the technical and musical performance
of each pair produced
The axial fixation of the woofers allows the tensioning of the cabinet’s panels
and provides mechanical stresses evenly distributed between the woofer’s basket
and its support, which dramatically improves the transient response of the
system
The use of an internal viscoelastic damping compound transforms vibratory energy
into heat without loss of micro-information
The unbaflled tweeter is capable of very high energy that is conserved for
several meters from the speaker both in and out of its axis
The optimized dynamic phasing of the units ensures accurate time group
propagation, the fundamentals and harmonics of the musical signal reconstituting
themselves in perfect concordance Exactness of the timbres is perfectly
respected
Equally at ease on both rock & roll and chamber music programs, the Cantabile
Supreme demonstrates unequivocally that a performance loudspeaker is inherently
versatile |

To celebrate the JM-Reynaud 10th anniversary of
this many times acclaimed and award-winning model, we offer a
limited edition of Cantabile in an optimized version.
The optimization work focused on the
internal damping of the cabinet to obtain the cleanest possible
results in terms of pulse response. Through the use of visco
elastic compound at strategic locations in the cabinet, we have
been able to curb many vibrations and pressure surges harmful to
the perfect transparency of the signal.
The unbafled tweeter is housed in a
solid aluminum extruded enclosure with a weight of about 800g,
which guarantees a perfect inertia and it prevents micro
displacement while avoiding parasite vibration transmission from
the cabinet. The transient response is greatly improved, the
treble are very rich with beautiful finesse, without dryness or
harshness and free of unpleasant projection phenomenon often
present on hard dynamics.
It is equipped with our best
components, including silver capacitors using our cable HP216B
as a. All electronic and electrodynamics components are sorted
very precisely to ensure a perfect similarity of the technical
and musical performances for each pair made. The internal wiring
has been doubled on the woofers for a better supply of current
on high pulses while maintaining a very good damping.
Dressed in a beautiful 7-layer
polished glossy piano lacquer the Cantabile 10th anniversary is
an object of great elegance and beautiful simplicity. It will
delight fans of live music by its propensity to generate a very
wide stereo image, very well built and has the light and tone
richness of the finest products in our range. The fluidity of
his message and its extreme musicality make the Cantabile 10th
anniversary a model a part that will remain for a long time the
faithful companion of those who seek above all the . |
