Crescendo II



Straight Wire has introduced a significantly improved version of their highly acclaimed “Crescendo” Speaker Cable. It offers both technical advances starting with the inner core composed of seven equal diameter TPR hollow tubes vs. one large tube. This allows for greater flexibility and retention of roundness. The tubes are dual wrapped to maintain a uniform foundation for the many (12) large conductive groups and fillers. Dual insulation thicknesses (“soft” Foam Teflon and “hard” Foam Polypropylene) were modified to account for the characteristics of the new “inner core”. Conductor group resistance remained the same while compression was modified. Crescendo speaker cable was the first Compressed Conductor Technology (CCT) design produced by Straight Wire. This design combines the best attributes of solid-core and stranded conductor technology. Extreme care was given to the degree of conductor compression and pressure of the Foam Polypropylene insulation. Power Cords

Most people find it difficult to believe that 70% of the Power Cord effects are MECHANICAL NOT ELECTRICAL! You might ask why? The power that comes via Romex through the walls can have a deformed sine wave, severe over/under voltage and mixed with noise (EMI/RFI). Deformed sine waves can only be corrected with premium (over $600) Power Conditioners such as high grade Panamax, PS, Exact Power, Richard Gray … Better power conditioner/ protectors - $300- $600 can regulate voltage – but many components have regulated power supplies – so this doesn’t have a dramatic effect. Eliminating Noise is handled well but not perfectly by most $100-$300 units. MECHANICAL: Low Frequency vibrations (60-240 HZ harmonics) cause noise in the power supplies of many components. The supply can be poorly seated and even with perfect power - create mechanical resonances. ELECTRICAL– you can get leakages, magnetic field effects and induced noise based upon how well the power supply is shielded and physically coupled to the chassis. Overall shielding and grounding of the component is quite important. Do power cords make audible / visible differences on most components?
