Cleaner power supply........Improved Sound & Picture The performance of audio and video components is often degraded by the noise present on the power line. This noise comes from radio transmitters, electric motors, fluorescent lighting, dimmer switches, digital power supplies and numerous other sources. WireWorld's Noise Filtering Array™ power cords are designed to solve a completely different set of problems than audio and video cables. An ideal audio or video cable would pass the entire frequency range without alteration. However, an ideal power cord would pass only the 50Hz or 60Hz AC power, while blocking all other frequencies, thus preventing power line noise and harmonics from degrading the sound and imaging quality of the system. The Series 5.2 power cords are even more effective and much more flexible than their predecessors, making dramatic improvements in the imaging, dynamic range and resolution of both audio and video components. The five models differ only in their conductor material, as the smoother current flow of superior conductors provides additional improvements in sound and image quality. Power line noise: Power line noise and harmonics are generated by many of the devices plugged in to the line, as well as external sources, such as radio transmitters. Noise is also created by the interaction of the power supplies in audio and video components with the powerline itself. Audio and video component power supplies are not nearly effective enough at rejecting noise in the audible frequency range. Since there is nearly always a substantial amount of noise in the audible range (60Hz harmonics, resonance, etc.) the common approaches to high-end power cord design mostly redistribute that energy into different parts of the spectrum, proucing all kinds of sound effects. WireWorld's unique approach minimizes the degradation and sound effects by reducing the noise across the audible range. I must have had only a Class A- I now get freedom from perhaps a half-dozen specific, if at a low-level of irritation, anomalies that irked me; glare, metallic female voice tone, imprecise imaging, less textured bass, excessively sibilant bowing sounds, and too sibilant pronunciation of dental consonant clusters All of these I found were on some recordings, and not all the time I figured they were faults in my home brew crossover networks, or of the drivers in my home-brew speakers, or of the level at which I like to listen It turns out they were in my AC cords Mind you, not in my interconnects, or loudspeaker cables (which I'd have guessed have a more direct input to my signal), not in my CD player or my LP player, but my AC cords were keeping me up at night—wondering |
